WWE will be celebrating the 25th Anniversary of RAW next Monday, and at the end of the week, there is the Royal Rumble PPV.
So far, 8-10 match has been confirmed. Like every other thing, the match winners are already decided but as of now, WWE keeps on changing of plans very often. Anyways, based on the Royal Rumble 2018 match card.
WWE is also going to create history at the Royal Rumble by having the first ever Women’s Royal Rumble match. So without further ado, let’s give a look at the potentials superstars who are going to get their hands raised at the Royal Rumble PPV.
# Woken Matt Hardy vs Bray Wyatt:
After almost a year of wait, Matt and Jeff Hardy finally got the hold of the ‘Broken’ gimmick which was in a legal dispute them and the new owners of TNA.
Matt Hardy introduced the WWE universe to the broken gimmick last month when Matt was in a feud with Bray Wyatt.
This two unorthodox and strange superstars may get their one-on-one match at the Royal Rumble PPV. And looking at the present scenario, WWE will hand the victory to Matt Hardy because of the fact that he lost to Bray Wyatt when he was playing the babyface. Therefore with the Broken gimmick on, WWE will give the win to Matt Hardy.
# RAW women’s championship match:
There has been a lot of confusion going regarding both the women’s championship match of RAW and SmackDown courtesy of the women’s Royal Rumble match.
The company recently announced that the like the men’s Royal Rumble match, the women’s Royal Rumble match is also going to have 30 female superstars, but the problem is WWE doesn’t have many female superstars to fill up the numbers.
Due to which, they haven’t been able to come out with a proper contender for Alexa Bliss. There were talks going on to make Paige the number one contender but recently she suffered a neck injury. Irrespective of the opponent which WWE find for Alexa, she will hold the title at the Royal Rumble PPV as the current plan is to have a match between her and Asuka at Wrestlemania.
# SmackDown women’s championship match:
As already mentioned, the picture regarding both the women’s championship match is unclear. According to rumors, the earlier plan was to make Paige (the leader of Absolution) the number one contender for RAW’s women championship and Ruby Riot (leader of Riot Squad) the number one contender for SmackDown women’s championship.
However, both the women’s championship match may get scraped as WWE is not in the mood to hold the singles championship matches.
# RAW tag team championship match:
WWE did a lot of mistakes in 2017, and one of them was making Jason Jordan and Seth Rollins the RAW tag team championship.
Well, the reason behind it is simple WWE is trying to give a push to Jason Jordan. First making Kurt Angle his illegitimate dad and then making him one half of the tag team champion.
However, the unlikely duo’s tag team championship run may soon come to an end as WWE is planning to give the championship back to the Bar.
Despite the fact that Jason and Seth have been getting the wins over the opponents in recent weeks.
# I.C championship match:
The Miz has returned to WWE after weeks of absence and has already requested his re-match for the I.C championship match.
The Miz will take on Roman Reigns for the InterContinental championship next week on RAW, but like most of the other championship matches, there will be interruption due to which the match will move to the Royal Rumble PPV.
At the Royal Rumble PPV, Roman Reigns is expected to drop the title to Miz as the big dog is planned to take on Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania for the Universal prize.
After Royal Rumble PPV there is going to be the Elimination Chamber PPV in place of Fastlane PPV, in which Roman Reigns is expected to win.
# US championship match:
If you haven’t watched today’s SmackDown live then let me inform you Bobby Rhode just won the United States championship belt after defeating Jinder Mahal in the main event.
Despite getting the win over Jinder Mahal, Bobby Rhode will have to face the modern day Maharaja at the Royal Rumble PPV.
And with some help from the Singh brothers, WWE may hand Jinder Mahal the US title as a consolation prize after they took away WWE championship from him back in November.
So, at the Royal Rumble PPV, Jinder Mahal is most likely to win his first ever US championship.
# SmackDown Tag team championship match:
Like the RAW tag championship, the SmackDown tag championship may change hands. The current SmackDown tag champs the Usos has been holding on the title for months and has been able to successfully defend it on multiple occasions.
At the Royal Rumble PPV, the Usos will be taking on the team of Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin who has already gotten a victory over them in a non-title match.
So, it would be no surprise if the team of Chad and Benjamin beats the Usos at the Royal Rumble PPV and will walk out as new SmackDown tag team champions.
And this is something WWE needs to do in order to make the duo of Chad and Benjamin formidable and promising.
# WWE championship match:
The current WWE champion AJ Styles is set to take on Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn in a triple threat match.
The original plan was to have a match between then WWE champion Jinder Mahal and John Cena, thereby letting Cena win his 17th World title.
However, as the plan has changed now we have a triple threat match for the WWE championship match,
Even though the chance of AJ Styles walking out as the WWE championship is slim, but don’t worry WWE will keep AJ Styles the WWE championship.
As AJ Styles is planned to take on the king of strong style Shinsuke Nakamura at Wrestlemania 34 for the WWE championship match.
So for those AJ Styles fans out there don’t worry because AJ will be getting the win in the triple threat match set to occur in the Royal Rumble PPV.
# Universal Championship match:
Like the WWE championship match, the WWE Universal championship match will also be another triple threat featuring the current champion Brock Lesnar, Kane and Braun Strowman.
In 2017, WWE already had a fatal 4-way match for the Universal championship match but Brock still managed to hold onto his title.
That’s because WWE will put the beast against the big dog at Wrestlemania.
Brock Lesnar’s contract expires after Wrestlemania so before he leaves he will drop the title to Roman Reigns.
Hence, at the Royal Rumble PPV, it will be Lesnar who will be walking out as the winner most likely by pinning the big red machine, Kane.
# 30 women Royal Rumble match:
This is going to be a very special match and not just special but also a historic because this for the first time in 20 year history of the Royal Rumble PPV that WWE is going to have a women’s Royal Rumble PPV.
The match was officially announced by Stephanie McMahon on RAW back in December. However, the number of the participants was kept as a secret, as the original plan was to have 15-20 participants.
Fast forward, WWE has confirmed that like the men’s Royal Rumble, the women’s Royal Rumble match will also include 30 superstars.
WWE is also going to bring Hall of Famers like Lita, Trish back for the match. So expect to see former wrestlers making a comeback at the Royal Rumble PPV.
Now coming to the winner, at this moment, the hottest and the odds-on favorite to win the Royal Rumble match is Asuka.
She has been in a role and ever since making her debut on RAW last year, she is still undefeated. Other than Asuka, Becky Lynch is also a favorite to win the first-ever women’s Royal Rumble match.
# 30 men Royal Rumble match:
The main event of the PPV as we all know is going to be the 30 men Royal Rumble match. So far, only a few names have been confirmed. Superstars like Finn Balor, John Cena, Sheamus, Ceasaro, Randy Orton, Shinsuke Nakamura, are some of the names which have been confirmed to appear in the match.
Even Samoa Joe was confirmed to appear in the match, however, a couple weeks ago on RAW, Joe suffered an injury so whether he will be taking part in the match is not clear.
Out of all those superstars, a couple of names are there who are the most favorites to win this year’s Royal Rumble match.
At this year’s Royal Rumble match, you may see either John Cena or Shinsuke Nakamura be the last man standing in the ring.
But Cena may not get the win as there are plans Cena is going to face the Undertaker at Wrestlemania.
So in place of Cena, you might see Finn Balor or Nakamura get the win.
