WWE is currently not having the best of times as their weekly shows are not getting houseful audience. Out of the two shows, SmackDown Live has become the flop show with attendance being as a low as 3000. This has also lead the authority to move the audience to one side of the arena so that audience watching at home remain unaware of low attendance in their live shows.
If you look at the figures of the past 2-3 years, both the weekly running show had a good attendance but in recent times all that has turned upside down.
Especially for SmackDown, after the brand split and draft SmackDown Live has been worst affected.
There are multiple reasons behind the lack of presence of houseful audience; WWE is giving Roman Reigns a major push but WWE Universe doesn’t seem to like it, and then on SmackDown you have Jinder Mahal as the WWE champion, who is also not a fan favorite.
On the other hand, fan favorites like the Hardyz, Finn Balor, Dean Ambrose, AJ Styles and others are not getting the push they deserve. Now if you look at SmackDown, the major reason behind the absence of houseful audience is star power.
Many also consider the recent hike in the tickets a major reason behind the low attendance of audience. SmackDown Live doesn’t have a star-powered locker room like RAW. WWE has been quite worried about this, but sadly they haven’t done much about it. However, WWE creative planning is trying to make history at this year’s Hell in a Cell PPV to make sure SmackDown ratings go up.

According to sources, WWE is planning to create history by making the first ever tag team championship being defended in Hell in a Cell match, which means the current defending tag team champion The New Day will put their tag title on the line against the challenger; the Usos.
Even though this is not the first time we have a seen a tag team match taking place in Hell in a Cell but this is, in fact, is the very first time that we are going to see a tag team championship being defended in a Hell in a Cell match.
In recent times, Hell in a Cell has become a major PPV. Last year, we saw the first ever Women’s championship match taking place in a Hell in a Cell match. Back in 2015, the beast and the Deadman had their last face off in a Hell in a Cell match at the same PPV.
However, without good storylines and star power, it’s gonna be hard to gather houseful audience to show up in SmackDown Live tapings.
