NIT Jaipur is said to be the 6th among all the NIT in India according to the latest Ranking. It is a Public Engineering and Technology University which was started in the year 1962. Before becoming a NIT, it was known as Malaviya Regional Engineering College. Its name was changed on 26th June 2002.
Its name was changed to Malaviya National Institute of Technology, Jaipur on 26th June 2002 and on the same day it was declared as “Deemed University.” Since then it has offered B. Tech courses instead of B.E. courses. On 15th August 2007, it was declared as an "Institute of National Importance."

The cheapest and fastest way of reaching NIT Jaipur is to avail the train and reach Durgapura. From there a Taxi can be hired to reach Gandhinagar railway station. Prepaid taxis are available there which will take you to the institution.

MNIT Jaipur placements are overseen by the Department of Placement and Training which is under the control of the Faculty members. Understanding that every student has different dreams, the department of training and placement plans a customised career needs and training charts so that the students might get the best chances of pursuing their goals. Placement and Training Department makes the students aware of the Walk in Interviews and other career opportunities.
They guide and provide the right platform to the students for securing jobs. The performance part is up to the students. In the year 2015, a total of 157 companies visited the campus and selected a total of 748 students were offered jobs including the P.G courses, an average of 5.02 LPA was calculated out of the total offered placements. Two toppers from the Electronics Engineering branch were given job offers directly. Some of the major job offerers that visited the campus are Indian Navy, India Army, Bajaj Auto, Sony, etc. and many more famous companies.
The Central Computer Centre was established in the year 1989. Since then it has been attending to the needs of this institution. The Computer center of MNIT has continued to re-engineer the process of its service operations to facilitate the productivity and better quality. The center has 10 laboratories which are open all the time.
The library contains 156,314 printed books, 3073 e-books, 10,000 e-journals, international journals. It is connected to other library networks, through which other students can access libraries of other 4697 libraries across the world. In even offers WiFi and LAN services.
Materials Research Center:
With the focus on materials, it has an infrastructure for advanced research. It can only be used by the researchers and scientists of the Institute. The center is fitted with various types of advanced machines, facilities, and software which costs around $6.3 million.
Hostel and Mess Facilities:
The total number hostels in MNIT is 12, out of which it has 10 boys and 2 girls hostels that can hold around 3000 students in total. The rooms allotted for the first year students have triple bedrooms, and from second year they have individual bedrooms. The largest hostel in these 12 hostels is the Aurobindo Hostel which can hold around 950 students in a with each having their room.
The hostels have different facilities like Cable TV, Daily Newspaper, Indoor Games, WiFi, LAN, etc. Each hostel is provided with its mess. Both vegetarian and Non-vegetarian food is available in these messes. The messes are very clean and fitted with clean utensils.

The Overall result of the college is always good. Almost all students in the institution clear the examination with good results. For the students who are not able to clear the examinations, the college has a backlog program. This program enables the students to appear for the exams again after a month. Major events organized by the institution are Neuron, Blitzschlag, Electronic, Moments, MST, Schrifftum, Taal, and Zodiac. Out of these the most famous are Neuron and Blitzschlag.
Blitzchlag means Thunder and Lightning. It is the annual technical management festival of the institution. It is Three days long festival which is held at the end of January. More than 200 colleges with 25,000 students from all over the country visit this event every year. This event holds lectures, seminars, workshops, competitions, exhibitions and quizzes. It is organised by the students of the institution for inspiring technical interest amongst the students all over the country.
It is one of the biggest technical festivals of the country with more than 10,000 students participating from all over the country. This festival consists of many events which contain events like advanced robotics, software designing, programming, and others. The event is attended by many prominent figures of the country.
MNIT conducts an annual Sports Tournament. Students from all over Rajasthan and North India visit this event. The institution has a soccer field, a cricket ground, three basketball courts, volleyball courts, billiard room and many other such facilities related to sports. They have also been making plans for a swimming pool. Being a part of the NIT-sports Federation, it also hosts Inter-NIT sports tournament. NIT Jaipur is also a centre of the west zone NBA JAM.

NIT Jaipur has been selected by the World Bank to participate in Technical Education Quality Improvement Program.
