Apple’s iPhone has completed 10 years, and yesterday Apple launched three new iPhones; iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X on the 10 year anniversary.
Nonetheless, let’s discuss why the iPhone X may be Apple’s biggest flop in years. Well, there are several reasons behind it, but out of all of them the most significant being no new innovation.
Now, this has been one of the key highlights of their yearly launch events, whether it be the MacBook, iPhone or iPad.
Sadly this time around, Apple failed to deliver and didn’t do much to woo or surprise those who attended or watched the event live. Even though, there were certain new improvements made in the new iPhones, especially in the iPhone X.
The most noticeable being the bezel-less display which now comes with an OLED panel. The OLED panel is considered to be power efficient, which means the users will get more hours of battery life. A vertically aligned dual camera setup with AR support, and the larger 5.8-inch screen size.
#Where is iPhone 9 and iPhone 7S series?
When it comes to iPhones, for many years Apple has followed a pattern; every even year, they come with a new iPhone series and then in the following year, the company comes with ‘S’ series of the last year’s iPhone.
For instance, Apple launched the iPhone 4 back in 2010, and then in the following year i.e. 2011, Apple launched the iPhone 4S, and the same can be said about the iPhone 5 and iPhone 6.
However, Apple seems to have broken that trend as they ditched the iPhone 7S series and came up with the iPhone 8 series, and also the surprising new iPhone X, which could also mean that next year, the company may come with the iPhone XS series instead of iPhone 9.
According to a survey which was conducted before the launch of new iPhones. 16% of iPhone users stated that they will be sticking to their old iPhones, now, the survey was done before the launch of new iPhones.
The survey was done in the USA, now as far as India is concerned, I don’t think most will be eager to purchase the new iPhones, especially the iPhone X.
Now for those Indians who are planning to buy the new iPhone X, then you should know that the iPhone X will costs around 90K which also makes it the costliest iPhone to be launched till date.
Another thing which you should know is that with the iPhone X you won’t be getting the wireless charger which Apple showed during the launch event until January.
#Apple’s Face ID isn’t that accurate
Out of the three new iPhones, only the iPhone X features face detection which Apple renamed and are calling it Face ID, now if you had watched the live event, in the teaser video, it was shown how much accurate the Face ID and can recognize your face even in the dark.
However, during the live demo, when Crag Federighi tried to unlock the device using the Face ID, it didn’t work with the first model and then he went and took another iPhone X model and also wiped his face, which could also mean that the new Face ID isn’t that accurate and may fail to recognize your face if you have gotten some sweat on your cheeks or any other areas.
And once again this similar Face ID feature can be found the Galaxy S8, S8 Note, LG Q6, etc.
Overall, fans expected much more from Apple, mainly from the iPhone X. Apple has announced the devices will be available in India from November, but I am quite skeptical about its sales because I don’t think most people are gonna invest in the iPhone X instead they will stick with their old iPhones.
