Hi Guys, I am Vinay Kumar, your mentor on this blog “Techno Overdose”.
I am sure that you would be much aware of using an “About Me” widget on your blog…If you’re not aware, no worries
It is a widget that describes you to your readers in the sidebar or at any of your desired location in the blog. It helps your readers to connect with you as well as establish good relations between you and your readers
As I already mentioned in one of my previous articles that building relations with your readers and fellow bloggers is most important as they are the life of your blog.
If you succeed to do this no silly updates can affect your blog as your friends will be standing there for you… I got this tip from Harleena Singh Ma’am of Aha-Now while sharing my views with her.
Even after being so much aware about the widget, most of us face problems in finding and installing an About Me widget of your choice whereas sometimes we find a widget but it doesn’t cope up with our wishes.
So, what to do?
Let us make such a widget ourselves that also fulfill all of our wishes. No, I am not here to crack a joke. Today, I am going to tell you how to make a manual About Me widget as per your desires.
The best feature of this widget is that it works on both, Blogger as well as WordPress and you can design it anyway according to your need.
HOW TO MAKE A MANUAL ABOUT ME WIDGET FOR YOUR BLOG
§ Open a New post.
§ Type whatever you want to show up on your widget and get it formatted (Including hyperlinks).
§ Add Pictures if you want to. Keep your picture aligned so that it fits with the text( I will prefer to choose it align in the center.
Note: Resize your photo so that it’s no more wider than 180 pixels. Otherwise, it will not fit in your sidebar.
§ Now, Switch to HTML tab. This is going to work as a code generator for you. Here, you will get your code for the widget.
§ Now, Select all the HTML code ( traditionally by Ctrl + A) and copy it.
INSTALLING THE WIDGET
§ Go to layout >> Add a Widget.
§ Now, a new tab will open. Here, paste your copied HTML code in the content section.
§ Add a suitable title and Click Save.
§ You’re Done.
CUSTOMIZING THE WIDGET
Look up for your widget by visiting the blog. If you’re not happy with it, just go again to your post, alter it as your wish and repeat the steps.
